Paul Thomsen has a diverse work experience in the energy sector and government affairs. Paul served as the Vice President of Business Development, Americas at Ormat Technologies, Inc. starting in November 2018. Prior to that, they were the Executive Director of Government and Regulatory Affairs at Ormat from May 2017 to November 2018.
Before joining Ormat, Thomsen was the Chairman of the Public Utilities Commission of Nevada (PUCN) from October 2015 to May 2017, where they ensured compliance with utility laws. Paul also served as the Director of the Nevada Governor's Office of Energy from September 2013 to October 2015, overseeing energy policy development and legislative relations.
Earlier in their career, Thomsen had roles as the Director of Policy and Business Development at Ormat from September 2005 to September 2013, and as a Government Affairs representative at Lionel Sawyer & Collins in 2005. Paul also worked as a Regional Representative for U.S. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid from 2002 to 2005, focusing on energy resources and public land issues in Nevada.
Paul Thomsen earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Political Science and Government from the University of Nevada, Reno in 2001. Paul also obtained a Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree with a focus on Public Administration and Policy from the same university.
