Afro Indie Radio Host at Oroko Radio

Oluwatomiwa Suleiman is an accomplished Accra City Primary Curator at Sofar Sounds since November 2022, responsible for managing and presenting artists at intimate concerts. As an Afro Indie Radio Host for Oroko Radio since February 2022, Oluwatomiwa seeks to explore and challenge stereotypes associated with Afro artists in alternative music genres. As a singer and songwriter known as Tommy WÁ, Oluwatomiwa blends contemporary folk, retro-soul, and Afro Indie influences, drawing from Nigerian roots and appealing to Accra's vibrant music scene. Additional experience includes working as a photographer under Suleiman The Maverick, serving as a content strategist for RentAir Ghana from June 2017 to January 2023, and contributing as a freelance writer for Culture Trip in 2018. Oluwatomiwa holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Studies from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.

Oroko is a not-for-profit independent internet radio station based in Accra, Ghana. We aim to connect, inspire and empower through conversation, collaboration and community. Our global platform is for African and Diasporic voices to be heard, in our own words. We aim to reclaim and recenter narratives from the African and Diasporic artistic communities, with a particular focus on local perspectives in Accra, in addition to cultivating and nurturing relationships with like-minded projects across the globe.
