What you’ll do
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer and working as part of a cross-functional team, the Information Technology (IT) Manager will provide all levels of information technology management for the organization. The IT Manager must ensure that the organization has exceptional security mechanisms in place including ensuring that the organization has adequate equipment to maintain a functional office space and that all staff have the appropriate equipment to perform their respective functions efficiently and effectively.
This includes:
Managing day-to-day IT activities, focusing on clear, prioritized goals and overseeing execution of IT projects against delivery commitments and project plans
Leading the development and implementation of goals, priorities, and procedures for the IT Team and assist in the documentation thereof; this will include preparing annual calendar/project plans to ensure adequate scoping of timelines
Understand the business’s needs and develop IT strategies to support them
Identify technology trends/enhancements for opportunities to enhance business processes
Provide guidance for software platforms selection and manage licensing
Conducting cost-benefit analyses for new IT projects
Implement critical IT infrastructure including asset management, risk management, disaster recovery management and privacy management
Manage Azure and AWS and other cloud service providers and resources, ensuring their availability, security, and efficiency
Network administration
Design, manage, and monitor the computer network infrastructure ensuring it is reliable, efficient, and secure
Implementing remote monitoring tools and monitor system performance and security remotely
Scheduling and overseeing system updates, maintenance, and troubleshooting to minimize downtime and reduce system costs
Maintain records/logs of repairs and fixes and maintenance schedules
Ensures the company's servers, websites, and databases are secure and performing to expectations
Support Users: manage helpdesk services, providing tech. support ensuring IT resources are accessible and functional
Work with the Procurement Manager to procure all IT related equipment including but not limited to software, computers, laptops, peripherals, and phones
Set up workstations with computers and necessary peripheral software/devices (ex. routers, printers, pdf functions) for employees & contractors
Install, configure, and maintain computer software and licensing thereof
Train employees on usage of the hardware and operating system software
Data Security and Regulatory Compliance
Ensure compliance with data protection regulations.
Perform system tests and monitor for security breaches and respond to incidents.
Implement data backup and recovery solutions to protect against data loss due from HW failures, cyberattacks, or other
Ensuring data integrity and accessibility
Implementing disaster recovery plans
Build, lead, and develop a high-performing IT team through recruitment, coaching, performance management, and career development to meet company growth needs
Instill a culture of quality within the IT department
Maintain a clean, and safe working environment
Perform duties in a manner that is consistent with and committed to upholding the requirements of the quality management system
Additionally, due to the ever-changing and sometimes chaotic environment of an early-stage high-tech company, the IT Manager may assume additional responsibilities, as required.
What you’ll bring
Diploma or a degree in a Computer Science or relevant field
5+ years of progressive IT support and systems administration experience in a fast-paced office environment
3+ years in a management and/or leadership role is strongly preferred.
Proven record of exceptional planning, implementing and management of IT infrastructure including asset management, risk management, disaster recovery management, privacy management, cloud security, network security, privacy security, breach security, data protection, data integrity and data recovery
Demonstrated experience building and nurturing positive working relationships and high-functioning, collaborative teams
Solid understanding of auditing all levels of IT security
Extensive experience with setting up and managing Identity & Access Management tools and software (i.e., OKTA)
Proven experience and comfort with fulfilling low-level and high-level IT functions
Understanding of and/or experience with SOC2, HIPAA, PIPEDA or similar compliance frameworks and implementation is considered an asset
Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills
Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written
Certifications: Microsoft Certified IT Professional, Microsoft Azure Certified, NIDS, NIPS, & HIPS Certifications are strong assets
Solid understanding of administration of MS Office 365 including but not limited to emails, signatures, groups
Outstanding organizational and time-management skills
Exceptional knowledge working with Apple systems and PC systems
In depth understanding of diverse computer systems and networks
Must have a strong attention to detail
Ability to work under pressure, commit and meet tight timelines
The details
Employment status: Permanent full-time
Schedule:40 hours per week from Monday to Friday
Work location: Calgary, Alberta. Please note that this position is required to work onsite at our Head Office located at Suite 205, 1240 – 20th Avenue S.E.
