Jean-Philippe Vert is an accomplished professional with significant expertise in research and academia. Currently serving as Co-Founder at Bioptimus since February 2024 and Chief R&D Officer at Owkin from September 2022, Jean-Philippe also holds multiple roles at Mines Paris, including Affiliate Professor, Director, and Bioinformatics Group Leader since October 2002. Owkin has raised over $70M from leading VC funds and is now working with the most prominent cancer centers and pharmaceutical companies in Europe and the US. Additionally, Owkin leads several federated learning consortia, including; MELLODDY, to facilitate 'co-opetive' drug discovery between pharma companies, and Healthchain, to allow collaborative research across multiple hospitals. Owkin was co-founded in 2016 by Thomas Clozel, MD, a clinical research doctor and former assistant professor in clinical hematology, and by Gilles Wainrib, Ph.D., an academic pioneer in the field of Artificial Intelligence in biology.
