Meriem Sefta is the current Chief Diagnostics Officer at Owkin. Meriem has also held the position of Chief Data & Clinical Solutions Officer and Head of Partnerships at the company. Prior to their work at Owkin, Sefta was a Consultant at AEC Partners and a Research Engineer / PhD Candidate at Institut Curie - Research Centre. Meriem Sefta attended Lycee Rochambeau French International School from 1993 to 2004. Meriem then attended Ecole polytechnique from 2006 to 2009, where they studied biology, chemistry, and computer science. Meriem attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 2009 to 2012, where they earned a Master of Science in biological/biosystems engineering. Finally, they attended Institut Curie from 2012 to 2015, where they earned a Doctor of Philosophy in computational biology / cancer biology.

Owkin was co-founded in 2016 by Thomas Clozel, MD, a clinical research doctor and former assistant professor in clinical hematology, and by Gilles Wainrib, Ph.D., an academic pioneer in the field of Artificial Intelligence in biology.
