Bas Tolhuis

Bas Tolhuis, PhD, is a highly experienced bioinformatics professional currently serving as a Staff Scientist in Field Applications Bioinformatics Support at PacBio since May 2019, after previously holding the role of Senior Scientist in the same department. Prior to PacBio, Bas Tolhuis was the Bioinformatics Manager at GENALICE from July 2012 to May 2019, where supervision of a bioinformatics team focused on the development of Next Generation Sequencing data analysis software took place. Bas also served as Deployment Manager at GENALICE, contributing to innovative processing and analysis solutions for DNA data. Earlier in the career, Bas held a Senior Postdoc position at NKI-AVL from September 2003 to June 2012, investigating genome organization and gene regulation by Polycomb Group proteins, as well as completing multiple genomics projects leveraging molecular biology and bioinformatics tools. Bas Tolhuis earned a PhD in Medical Biology from Erasmus University Rotterdam and an MSc in Molecular Cellular Biology and Biotechnology from the University of Amsterdam.
