Dr. Saltzman is a Surgeon and Associate Clinical Professor with the University of California, Los Angeles Department of Surgery and the David Geffen School of Medicine. He also serves as a Research Scientist with the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs Greater Los Angeles Health Care System and is on the adjunct faculty of Western University of Health Sciences’ College of Podiatric Medicine. Dr. Saltzman has served as a consultant to Leading BioSciences for many years, with a focus on respiratory biomarkers for the detection of sepsis and bowel injury and use of serine protease inhibitors to reduce systemic and local inflammation. The recipient of several research grants and a prolific public speaker, Dr. Salztman holds a patent on methods to minimize intestinal dysfunction. He has authored more than a dozen published peer-reviewed papers and serves as a reviewer for a variety of respected journals including Annals of Vascular Surgery and Thrombosis Journal. He holds a Bachelor of Science, Master of Science and Doctorate in Bioengineering from University of California, San Diego, and earned his Medical Doctorate from Dartmouth Medical School, followed by a surgical residency at the University of California, Irvine.
