Hans Magne Jaatun has a variety of work experience in different industries. Hans Magne started their career as a Regional Treasurer at Operasjon Dagsverk in 2012 and later became a Regional Manager at Norsk Målungdom. Hans Magne then worked as an English Teacher at Souriya Across Borders Ltd in 2016. In 2018, they interned at Orient-Institut Beirut, where they focused on copy-editing and proofreading for the institute's published journal. Hans Magne also participated in a digital editing project. From 2011 to 2019, they worked at Randaberg kommune, first as a Library Assistant and later as a Care Assistant. Most recently, they joined Paradox Interactive as a Game Designer in November 2021. Hans Magne briefly worked as a Museum Assistant at Stiftelsen Flyhistorisk Museum Sola in 2020.

Hans Magne Jaatun completed their education in a chronological manner as follows: Hans Magne attended Stavanger Cathedral School from 2010 to 2013, where they pursued their Upper Secondary education with a focus on General Studies. Subsequently, they enrolled at The University of Manchester from 2013 to 2017, where they obtained their Bachelor's degree in Modern Middle Eastern History. Most recently, from 2017 to 2020, they attended the University of Oslo (UiO) and successfully completed their Master's degree in Modern International and Transnational History.
