Hem Patel

Hem Patel has a diverse work experience in the fields of innovation consultancy, design education, data-driven storytelling, and data visualization. Hem is currently the Founding Partner and Managing Director at Parallel, an innovation consultancy focused on visual analytics and decision intelligence. Additionally, they serve as an External Examiner at Central Saint Martins, University of The Arts London, where they contribute their expertise in design. Hem Patel is also the Founding Partner of Encode.info, a conference and platform exploring data journeys in design, journalism, and education. Hem has also been a member of the Advisory Board at DATA4CHANGE, an organization that fosters the use of data for social change. Prior to their current roles, Hem Patel co-founded Signal Noise, a company that reimagines data usage and creates immersive experiences. Hem began their career as a Creative Designer at Bloomberg LP and later transitioned to a Senior Lecture position at UCA Epsom.

Hem Patel attended the University for the Creative Arts from 1996 to 1999, where they earned a BA HONs in Fashion Promotion + Illustration. Hem also attended the University of Derby, although specific details about the degree and field of study are not available.
