Pierre Magnan is the current President of Parkland International at Parkland Fuel Corp. Prior to this, they served as Chairman of Synchronicity Energy from July 2011 to January 2014. Synchronicity Energy sought to acquire and operate mis-priced, long-life U.S. oil and gas assets with significant optimization and reserve replacement opportunities. From February 2009 to March 2014, Magnan was also a partner at Gowling WLG.
Before their work in the private sector, Magnan was a Lecturer at the University of Calgary's Faculty of Law from January 2002 to October 2013. During their time there, they taught Advanced Business Transactions (the mergers and acquisitions course) from 2002-2008 and Unjust Enrichment in 2010. Pierre also served as a Guest Lecturer in the Business Clinical Course from 2011-2013.
Magnan began their career as a Partner at Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP from September 2001 to January 2009. During their time there, they sold the company to Logan International Inc. on March 1, 2012. Pierre then went on to serve as Principal of Pierre P.G. Magnan Professional Corporation from April 2014 to December 2015. Most recently, they served as Corporate Secretary of Xtend Energy Services Inc. from April 2011 to March 2012.
Pierre Magnan has a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Ottawa, a Master of Laws from the University of Cambridge, and a Bachelor of Social Science in Political Science from the University of Ottawa.
They are on a team with Ferio Pugliese - SVP, People & Culture, Health, Safety & Environment, Ryan Krogmeier - SVP, Supply, Trading and Refining, and Christy Elliott - VP, Senior General Counsel, Corporate Secretary and Chief Sustainability Officer. Parkland Fuel Corporation distributes and markets fuels and lubricants. The Company delivers refined fuels and other petroleum products to motorists, businesses, consumers and wholesale customers. Its segments include Retail Fuels, Commercial Fuels, Parkland USA, Supply and Wholesale, and Corporate. Its Retail Fuels segment supplies and supports a network of over 1, 070 retail gas stations in Canada. Its Commercial Fuels segment delivers bulk fuel, propane, heating oil, lubricants, agricultural inputs and other related products and services.
