Hunter George possesses extensive experience in policy and government relations, organizational development, and community leadership. Currently serving as the Policy & Government Relations Officer at Parks Tacoma since July 2015, Hunter has developed key partnerships with various governmental entities and played a pivotal role in organizational restructuring in response to the pandemic. Additionally, Hunter is a four-term Councilmember and former Mayor of Fircrest, contributing to local governance and serving on the boards of several influential organizations, including Sound Transit and South Sound Housing Affordability Partners. Hunter's background also includes a strong foundation in communications, having previously held the position of Director of Communications for Pierce County, along with significant editorial experience at The News Tribune. Educational qualifications encompass a B.A. in History from North Carolina State University, a project management certificate from the University of Washington Tacoma, and several certifications from FEMA's Emergency Management Institute.

Parks Tacoma

Created by voters in 1907, Parks Tacoma is an independent agency that provides parks, recreation and zoological services for people in the Tacoma, Browns Point and Dash Point areas. Governed by an elected five-member Board of Park Commissioners, Parks Tacoma maintains and cares for 69 parks and attractions, including Point Defiance Park with its Zoo and Aquarium, Boathouse Marina, and Fort Nisqually; Northwest Trek Wildlife Park near Eatonville; W. W. Seymour Botanical Conservatory; Meadow Park Golf Course; and Ruston Way waterfront parks.
