At Pattern Bioscience, we’re tackling antibiotic resistance, one of the biggest public health challenges of our time. Our technology rapidly identifies bacterial infections and predicts the most effective antibiotics to treat the infection. We’re building direct-from-specimen phenotypic rapid ID/AST assays using live cells on our proprietary instrument and consumable platform.
Pattern’s Assay Research team is searching for a data-driven, curious, innovative Scientist I/II to join us. This team solves a wide variety of problems, including developing our novel assay technology, developing innovative sample prep solutions for different sample types, and working with internal and external collaborators to perform studies using Pattern’s system. We are seeking talented individuals who will embrace our mission and flourish in a dynamic, rigorous, and entrepreneurial environment.
How You Will Contribute
- Conceive and conduct independent experimentation from project inception through completion in a BSL-2 in support of solving challenging problems related to the development of an in vitro diagnostic biochemical assay for the identification and antibiotic susceptibility testing (ID/AST) of bacteria
- Analyze data to form conclusions, drive future experimental plans, and provide insights for the whole team
- Manage, capture, and review critical data: accurately and consistently recording experimental methods, materials, and results
- Effectively adjust to chancing priorities
- Collaborate with other multi-disciplinary teams (including Manufacturing, Clinical, Chemistry, and Engineering)
We'd Love to Hear From You If You
- Have a strong track record in experimental science or applied engineering solving multi-factor problems with creative solutions
- Can plan, execute, and analyze complex experiments, probing for insightful conclusions
- Tell cohesive scientific stories through data and analysis
- Embrace problems outside of our knowledge base
- Engage in collaborative and creative problem-solving
- Prioritize and contextualize plans and decisions in a way that others understand the “why” of what they're doing
- Are an excellent communicator across technical disciplines
