Matthew M. has a diverse range of work experience in the audio and media industry. Matthew has worked as a Sound Designer at Payload Studios since 2022. Prior to that, they served as a Lecturer in Post Production and a Visiting Lecturer in Sound Design at Royal Holloway, University of London, where they developed and taught courses on sound design for storytelling. Matthew also worked as a Media Arts Technician, where they designed and installed an immersive ambisonic speaker array.

Earlier in their career, Matthew worked as a TV Studio Manager and Technician in Audio Production at the University of Westminster. Matthew provided support and maintenance for a broadcast-standard television studio and produced music festivals. Matthew also freelanced as an Event Operations Technician at Facebook and an Audio Events Technician at Burberry, where they managed audiovisual technology for events.

Matthew's career began as an Audio Visual Support Analyst at Telefónica Digital and an AV Technician at UBS Investment Bank, where they provided technical support for meeting rooms and events. Matthew started their career as an Event Technology Specialist at PSAV, where they produced high-profile events for clients such as American Airlines, Warner Brothers, and celebrities.

Matthew M. began their education by obtaining a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Educational/Instructional Technology from Staffordshire University in the years 2003 to 2006. Matthew then pursued further studies and completed a PGC in Academic Practice in Teaching and Learning with a focus on Game and Interactive Media Design at Royal Holloway, University of London from 2020 to 2022. In addition to their degrees, Matthew M. obtained certifications as an Avid Certified Instructor in Media Composer User in December 2019 and as an Avid Certified Instructor in Pro Tools User in August 2019.

Payload Studios

Payload Studios is a British independent games studio, founded by Russ Clarke and Vincent Scheurer, to develop our flagship game, the sandbox construction and combat game, TerraTech. Payload Studios also run the Tentacle Zone stand at games conventions across the UK. The stand offers indie developers an affordable way to show their games with full support from our friendly team and all artwork and equipment provided. The Tentacle Zone has also expanded to include cohabiting workspace in our studio, we currently share space with 4 other talented indie studios. We also host events for the London games community including our diversity focused Game On series. Payload Studios recently announced that Tencent, a leading internet and technology company, has invested a minority stake in Payload. This investment will support the growth of the team and development of future titles with Payload’s signature community-driven model. The studio is based in Farringdon, London.
