John Ruppenthal is an experienced creative professional with over three decades in the broadcasting and education sectors. Currently serving as Senior Creative Director for Brand & Digital Innovation at the Public Broadcasting Service since March 1990, John oversees the design and production of brand identity packages for PBS stations nationwide and conducts training on brand best practices. Prior roles at PBS include Senior Director of Creative Services and Interim Design Director for PBS.org, where John established the award-winning website's design. Prior to PBS, John was a Senior Writer/Producer at WBTV, North Carolina's top-rated CBS affiliate, and held the position of Headmaster/Teacher at Shamusinjiri Secondary School. John Ruppenthal holds a BA from Davidson College and has completed postgraduate courses in Creative Writing and Copywriting at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
