Jaci Updike

Jaci Updike was named President of Sales, Penguin Random House U.S., in 2014. She is a member of the Penguin Random House North America Board and oversees the U.S. sales team, the largest in trade-book publishing, which serves retail and wholesale accounts, the library and education marketplaces, special sales, and international sales.

Updike began her career as a bookseller, and joined Bantam Doubleday Dell as a California-based sales rep in 1989. She has held a number of leadership positions in the company, working closely with her publishing colleagues on a wide array of bestseller campaigns and imprint launches. She had a key role in the integration of Penguin and Random House, and her current portfolio includes a variety of strategic projects related to both the digital and physical marketplaces.
