Prior to this role, Mertis held various senior positions at the Center for Security Studies (KEMEA) and the Hellenic Police from 1996 to 2022, including Senior Research Manager and Chief of Department, where responsibilities encompassed the development and management of IT services, strategic planning, and project portfolio oversight. Mertis’ expertise spans strategic ICT development, project management for significant initiatives such as Smart Borders, and technical roles in system engineering and software development. Mertis holds a Master’s degree in Information Systems from Athens University of Economics and Business.
