Sean Boyle has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. Sean began their career as an Intern at Eli Lilly, where they designed and implemented an automated image analysis algorithm for neuronal necrosis identification. Sean then moved on to become an Associate Instructor and Researcher at Indiana University Bloomington. Sean then pursued their doctoral studies at the University of California, Riverside, where they focused on devising a method to identify optimal subsets of molecular descriptors for odor receptors in Drosophila.
Following their doctoral studies, Sean worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Stanford University, where they focused on genome sequencing and personal genome interpretation. Sean then co-founded Sensorygen, where they served as a Co-founder and Advisor, specializing in chemical informatics and neuroscience developments for olfactory-based insect behavior modification.
Sean's expertise in bioinformatics and cancer diagnostics led him to join Personalis, Inc., where they held multiple roles. Sean started as a Bioinformatics Scientist, progressing to become a Bioinformatics Scientist 4: Technical Lead, and later a Manager of Bioinformatics Applications. Sean then assumed the position of Director and eventually Senior Director of Bioinformatics Applications, where they led the development of novel cancer and immuno-oncology products. Sean'sfinal role at Personalis was as the Executive Director of Bioinformatics Science. Currently, Sean serves as the Vice President of Scientific Research and Applications at Personalis, overseeing the technology development and application efforts for cancer and liquid biopsy solutions.
Sean Boyle's education history includes a Master of Science in Bioinformatics from Indiana University Bloomington, which they obtained from 2005 to 2007. Sean then pursued a PhD in Bioinformatics, Chemical Informatics, and Genetics from the University of California, Riverside, which they completed from 2007 to 2012. Subsequently, Boyle attended Stanford University as a Postdoctoral Researcher specializing in Personalized Genomic Medicine from 2012 to 2014.
