James C. Stansel

James Stansel currently serves as Executive Vice President, Law & Regulatory, and General Counsel at PhRMA since August 2016. Prior to this role, Stansel was Co-head of the Global Life Sciences Team at Sidley Austin from May 2009 to July 2016 and held various positions at the Department of Health and Human Services, including Counselor to the Secretary and Acting General Counsel from April 2006 to January 2009. Stansel also worked at Sidley Austin as Partner and Deputy General Counsel from 1998 to 2006. Stansel obtained a JD from Yale Law School and a BS in Economics from Brigham Young University.
