James Howdle started their work experience in 1999 as a Marketing Consultant at GCOM Group. James then moved on to become the Director of Strategy at Indie Mobile, a mobile marketing and distribution agency focused on the music industry, from an unknown date in 2006 until September 2009. After that, they joined [PIAS] in October 2009 as the Commercial Operations Manager, where they were responsible for providing market insight, data analysis, and business intelligence to internal and external clients. In May 2016, they were promoted to the position of Director of Insights and Digital Services, overseeing the day-to-day management of the digital supply chain, managing key suppliers, and negotiating contractual terms and service level agreements.

James Howdle completed their education at two institutions. From 1992 to 1995, they attended The University of Sheffield, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy. Following this, from 1997 to 1998, they attended Bristol Business School, where they pursued a Master of Arts degree in European Business with a specialization in Spanish.

In addition to their formal education, James Howdle obtained a YouTube Rights Management Certification from Google in June 2014.
