Alex Walsh

Control Systems Engineer at Pivotal

Alex Walsh is an experienced aerospace engineer and tow pilot with a diverse background in both military and academic settings. Currently serving as a Control Systems Engineer at Pivotal since May 2019, Alex has implemented advanced estimation and control algorithms for the BlackFly aircraft. Prior experience includes a postdoctoral research position at McGill University focusing on simultaneous localization and mapping for autonomous underwater vehicles, and a research assistant role at the University of Michigan developing controllers for robotic systems. Alex's military experience with the Canadian Armed Forces includes roles as Chief Instructor and qualified glider instructor, alongside serving as a tow pilot since 2013. Alex holds a Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Michigan, complemented by a strong educational foundation in engineering from McGill University and Dawson College.
