Mark V. Sykes is a seasoned professional in the fields of planetary science and law, currently serving as Senior Scientist and CEO and Director at the Planetary Science Institute since November 2003. With a robust background in astronomy from the University of Arizona, Mark V. Sykes previously held the position of Astronomer at the University from 1987 to 2003. Additionally, Mark V. Sykes contributed to the arts as a Bass-Baritone chorister for the Arizona Opera Company from December 1984 to April 2018. Educational credentials include a JD from the James E. Rogers College of Law at the University of Arizona, a PhD in Planetary Science from the University of Arizona, and an MSES in Applied Physics from the Oregon Graduate Center, complemented by a BA in Physics from the University of Oregon.
