Dr. Julia Squarr currently serves as the Journal Development Manager at the Public Library of Science (PLOS) since June 2023. Previously, Dr. Squarr held the position of Senior Editor at Wiley from January 2019 to June 2023, overseeing a diverse portfolio in microbiology, genetics, and related fields. At Springer Nature, Dr. Squarr was an Associate Editor from July 2017 to December 2018, where contributions included developing editorial strategies for medical portfolios. An earlier role as an External Copy Editor at Georg Thieme Verlag KG involved summarizing and editing medical research publications. Dr. Squarr's academic background includes a Doctorate in Cell Dynamics and Development from the University of Münster, along with a Master of Science in Neural, Behavioral and Developmental Biology and a Bachelor of Science in Biowissenschaften. Research experience encompasses significant work in Drosophila genetics and lab management during postdoctoral tenure at Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster.
