James Clinch has over 12 years of work experience in engineering. James began their career in 2009 as a Vacation Student (Mechanical Engineer) at Xstrata Coal NSW, a role they held for two years. In 2012, they returned to Xstrata Coal NSW as a Mechanical Engineer (Graduate), where they gained practical work experience in various departments of underground mining. In 2013, they moved to GlencoreXstrata Plc as a Mechanical Engineer (Graduate). James then held the role of CHPP Mechanical Coordinator at Glencore from 2014 to 2019. In 2019, they became a Project Engineer at ROXON, and in 2021 they moved to NEPEAN Conveyors as a Project Engineer. Most recently, in 2022, they joined Plotlogic as a Commissioning Engineer.

James Clinch attended the University of Wollongong from 2008 to 2011, where they earned a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical. Prior to that, they attended Macarthur Anglican School from 2002 to 2007.
