Hans von der Burchard is a Senior Politics Reporter for POLITICO Europe, specializing in coverage of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and government activities at both the Berlin and EU levels since March 2015. Prior roles include serving as an EU politics reporter, focusing on relations between the European Commission and EU member states, and reporting on trade policy. Prior to POLITICO, Hans operated as a freelance journalist for Die Welt and COMPUTERBILD from July 2010 to March 2015, and worked in the Press Office of the German Air Force. Academically, Hans holds advanced degrees in European Studies and European Politics, along with a Bachelor’s in Social Sciences, complemented by a journalistic apprenticeship at Axel Springer Akademie.
