Shirly Adams has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning various industries and organizations. shirly is currently the Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) at Yuri, a commercial space industry company focused on biotech engineering and Precision Medicine in space. Prior to joining Yuri, Adams was a Co-Founder and SAB member at Poppy, a pathogen sensing and detection network that monitors air and surfaces for viruses and pathogens. shirly has also worked as a Topical Team member at the European Space Agency (ESA), Co-Chair of the NASA GeneLab Microbiome AWG, and Chief Scientific Officer at Bumrungrad International Hospital. Their research experience includes roles at Weill Cornell Medicine, UAB - Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, University of California, San Diego - Rady School of Management, Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG), and the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Biology. Adams holds a PhD in Genomics and has expertise in bioinformatics, genomics, and molecular biology.
Shirly Adams obtained a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from American University, a Diplom in Biochemistry from the University of Potsdam, and a PhD in Biochemistry also from the University of Potsdam.
