Douglas Thiessen, P.E. serves as the Managing Director of Engineering at the Port of Long Beach, a position held since January 2000, where oversight includes engineering and maintenance efforts for extensive infrastructure projects with an annual capital program exceeding $600 million. Previously, as Chief Harbor Engineer, Douglas directed the Engineering Division and managed significant redevelopment projects. Additionally, Douglas has been the Executive Director of the Joint Powers Authority for the Intermodal Container Transfer Facility since October 2008 and has instructed graduate-level courses in seaport planning and design at California State University, Long Beach from September 2004 to January 2015. Douglas holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Southern California, with some coursework towards a Master's degree in the same field.
