Director of Basketball Operations at Portland Trail Blazers

Nick West begins his 11th season with the Trail Blazers in 2020-21. In his role as Director of Basketball Operations, West directs the daily operations of the basketball department and oversees the administration of the Trail Blazers Practice Facility. West’s duties also include team travel management, agent relations, finance/accounting and preseason scheduling. He worked for the Trail Blazers previously from 1996-2000, serving as the team’s Small College Scouting Coordinator. A native of Seattle, West began working in the NBA as a volunteer for the Seattle Supersonics in the sixth grade in 1987, and later served as a team attendant for the Sonics from 1992-96. Prior to returning to the Trail Blazers for the 2010-11 season, West spent five years working in the recruiting department of Microsoft and spent six years coaching high school basketball in the Seattle area. He obtained his Master’s in Education from Seattle Pacific University in June 2012. Nick and his wife, Stephanie, are the proud parents of daughters Gabrielle and Olivia, and son Noah.

The Portland Trail Blazers (the Blazers) are an American professional basketball team based in Portland, Oregon. The Trail Blazers compete in the National Basketball Association as a member of the league's Western Conference Northwest Division. The team played its home games in the Memorial Coliseum before moving to Moda Center in 1995 (called the Rose Garden until 2013). The franchise entered the league as an expansion team in 1970, and has enjoyed a strong following as the only NBA team based in the bi-national Pacific Northwest: from 1977 through 1995, the team sold out 814 consecutive home games, the longest such streak in American major professional sports at the time.
