Gian Luca Bianchi has diverse work experience in various companies and roles. Starting in 2000, they worked as a freelance consultant. From 2002 to 2006, they worked as a consultant for the Ministry of Education, University, and Research. In 2002, they also became the General Manager at Youth Net and held that position until 2007. Following that, they joined Poste Italiane where they worked as a Project Manager from 2007 to 2016. Later, they became the Head of ICT Demand Management in the financial business unit at Poste Italiane starting in January 2017. Gian Luca has been responsible for managing ICT needs and contributing to technological innovation initiatives, such as the introduction of enterprise resource planning systems, process automation, and business intelligence tools.
Gian Luca Bianchi completed their Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) in Management Engineering from the University of Rome Tor Vergata from 1993 to 2002. Gian Luca then pursued a Master's degree in Organizzazione e Gestione delle Pubbliche Amministrazioni, with a focus on Law & Engineering, from 2003 to 2004 at the same university. Finally, they obtained their PhD in Engineering Management from the University of Rome Tor Vergata from 2002 to 2007.

The Company's activities are divided into four operating segments. The Postal Service and Commercial Service includes correspondence, express delivery, logistics, parcel and philately. The Financial Service combines the activities of banking services. The Insurance Service includes the activities of Poste Assicura SpA, Poste Vita SpA and its subsidiaries. The Other Service includes the activities of Poste Mobile SpA and the Consortium for the phone services of Mobile Phone ScpA. The main shareholder of the Company is the Italian government.
