Julie Goldberg has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Julie started their career as the Owner and General Manager of Monster Pizza, a small, family-focused restaurant in South Carolina. Afterward, they worked as an Education Specialist at Irvine Unified School District and Alexandria City Public Schools, where they developed inclusive student programs and built cohesive teams to support student growth. Julie then joined San Dieguito Union High School District, where they held multiple roles, including Teacher on Special Assignment, Coordinator of Assessment, Accountability, and Research, and Director of Assessment and Accountability. In these positions, they provided leadership and innovation for strategic planning, continuous improvement initiatives, and data coaching. Currently, Julie is working as a Principal at Poway Unified School District.
Julie Goldberg completed their Master of Arts degree in Special Education and Teaching from Chapman University in 2012. Prior to that, they obtained their Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences from the University of South Carolina in 2006. Additionally, Julie holds certifications in Administrative Services and Education Specialist Instruction from the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing, although the specific obtaining dates are unknown.

PUSD operates 25 elementary schools (K-5), one elementary & middle school combination (TK-8th), six middle schools (6-8), one continuation high school, five comprehensive high schools (9-12), and one adult school. 26 schools are located in the city of San Diego; 12 schools in the city of Poway. The District serves over 36,000 students, and is the third largest school district in the county.
