Aaron Smith has a diverse work experience in the renewable energy sector. Aaron is currently the Chief Commercial Officer at Principle Power, where they guide the company's strategic direction and secures commercial value. Before that, they held the position of Vice President, Head of Strategy & Commercial at Principle Power, responsible for driving economic competitiveness and identifying market opportunities. Prior to joining Principle Power, Aaron worked as a Strategic Planning Manager at Principle Power.
Aaron also serves on the Board of Directors at the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) and the Advisory Board of the Business Network for Offshore Wind. Aaron is a member of the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Advisory Committee at the U.S. Department of Commerce, where they advise on the development and administration of programs to enhance the competitiveness of U.S. renewable energy exports.
Earlier in their career, Aaron worked as an Economist at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, conducting market analysis and providing strategic insights. Aaron also served as President of Sustainable Power Consulting, LLC and worked as an Associate at ION Consulting. Aaron began their career as an Analyst at Patagonia Partnership, where they focused on fair trade and organic agriculture investments. Aaron also held a role as a Business Development Associate at EarthTurbines.
Aaron Smith attended the University of Vermont from 2004 to 2008, where they pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree. During their time at the university, they focused their studies on Economics, Political Science, and Mathematics.
