Hansini Munasinghe, PhD, has a diverse work experience in research and journalism. In their role as a Research Associate at PRR, they are currently engaged in research activities. Hansini'sprevious experience includes working as a Researcher at the University of Iowa, where they conducted primary and secondary research using qualitative and quantitative methods. Hansini'sdissertation research project explored how immigrant families navigate social and political life in the US. At the University of Iowa, they also served as a Course Instructor and Graduate Teaching Assistant, teaching online courses, designing learning materials, and facilitating class discussions. Additionally, they worked as a Researcher on a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Climate Research Project and a Parental Leave Project, where they collected and analyzed data from surveys and collaborated with research teams. Before their academic pursuits, they worked as a Freelance Journalist at Wijeya Newspapers - Sunday Times, reporting on various social, cultural, political issues, and human interest stories. Hansini wrote newspaper and magazine articles, conducted interviews in multiple languages, and handled sensitive topics with care.

Hansini Munasinghe, PhD, has a strong educational background in sociology. Hansini obtained their Bachelor's degree in Sociology from Iowa State University in 2013. Hansini then went on to pursue a Master's degree in Sociology from the University of Iowa, graduating in 2015.
