Alex Backer

Alex Backer is an experienced higher education professional currently serving as the Executive Director of Student Engagement at Purdue University Fort Wayne since September 2019. In this role, Alex provides leadership and vision for key student success areas, including Student Life and the Student Government Association, while supervising staff and managing departmental programs. Previously, Alex held key positions at Trine University, including Director of Student Leadership and Student Activities, and contributed to the development of student organizations, leadership programs, and campus activities. Alex's career in student affairs began at The Ohio State University, where roles included Graduate Administrative Associate and Development Intern. Alex holds a Master of Arts in Higher Education/Student Affairs and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from The Ohio State University.
