Evan Smith is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in community development and nonprofit leadership. Since June 2012, Evan has held various roles at Purpose Built Communities, rising to the position of Vice President of Network Member Success, while also serving as a Senior Community Development Advisor and Community Development Advisor. Prior to this, Evan contributed to Teach For America as a Manager of Teacher Leadership Development and held a dual role as Program Director and Corps Member from June 2006 to June 2010. Evan also worked as a Math Teacher and Soccer Coach at Carlos Truan Junior High School. Educational achievements include participation in the Senior Leaders Program for Nonprofit Professionals and the Developing Leaders Program for Nonprofit Professionals at Columbia Business School, along with a Bachelor's degree in Economics and Political Science from Wake Forest University.

Purpose Built Communities
Purpose Built Communities is an organization that helps local leaders implement a comprehensive, long-term place-based redevelopment model with public and private partners in neighborhoods of concentrated urban poverty to create healthy, vibrant neighborhoods where all residents can thrive. It is a nonprofit consulting firm that offers its services free of charge. The Purpose Built Model includes mixed-income housing, a cradle-to-college education pipeline and community wellness programs and facilities in a defined neighborhood, coordinated by a dedicated, nonprofit community quarterback organization. There are now 16 Purpose Built Communities Network Members across the United States.
