Quansight
Ralf Gommers has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. In 2019, they joined Quansight as the Co-Director of Quansight Labs, where they played a vital role in building a team to develop open-source technology and grow open-source communities in the AI and Data Science field. Prior to that, from 2018 to 2019, they worked as a Data Scientist at FPInnovations. In 2016, Ralf was a Research Leader at Scion, leading the Data Science team and exploring projects at the intersection of data science and forestry. From 2011 to 2016, they held various roles at ASML, including Functional Architect Metrology and Design Engineer, where they worked on architectural design and optimization of the TwinScan measure sequence. Before that, Ralf was a Senior Scientist at Philips Research from 2010 to 2011. Ralf also has experience working as a Postdoctoral Associate at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 2007 to 2009, where they contributed to the creation of the first atomic gas exhibiting quantum magnetism.
Ralf Gommers completed their PhD in Physics from UCL, graduating between 2004 and 2007. Prior to that, they pursued an MSc in Applied Physics from Eindhoven University of Technology, between 1997 and 2004.

Quansight was started by Travis Oliphant (NumPy, SciPy, Numba, Conda, XND, NumFOCUS, PyData). Travis is a well-known PyData community leader and founder of Continuum Analytics. Before Quansight, he and others who joined him at Quansight helped Continuum get started and develop into Anaconda Inc. While creating a successful enterprise softwarecompany utilizing open source, their team at Quansight discovered business models that bridge open source communities with innovative companies and projects.Quansight grew out of Anaconda in order to facilitate broad community-led innovation and development in Machine-Learning and Data Science.
