Daniel Howard has extensive work experience in the field of systems administration and DevOps engineering. Daniel started their career as an Undergraduate Assistant at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications, where they provided network management support. Daniel then worked at EnterAct, L.L.C. as a Systems and Network Administrator, managing FreeBSD servers and supporting a large user base. At Tellme Networks, Inc., they served as the Lead Unix Systems Administrator, overseeing the development and maintenance of core Unix-based information services. At Transmeta Corp, they were a Senior Systems Administrator responsible for advising an email infrastructure upgrade and developing documentation systems. Daniel later joined Server Central Networks as the Manager of Technical Support, ensuring consistent fulfillment of support requests and resolving escalated issues. Daniel then worked as a Senior Systems Administrator at Nextrials, Inc., where they redesigned the production network and maintained systems documentation for compliance audits. At Yelp, they were the Lead Systems Administrator, expanding the production network infrastructure and implementing Disaster Recovery services. Daniel then joined Cisco IronPort as a Senior Systems Administrator, maintaining the operation of the spam analysis infrastructure and developing a production "Change Management" process based on ITIL standards. Currently, they work at Quantifind as a Senior DevOps Engineer.
Daniel Howard obtained a BA in Rhetoric from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where they studied from 1995 to 1999. Prior to that, they earned a High School Diploma in the International Baccalaureate program from Lincoln Park High School, completing their studies from 1990 to 1994. In addition to their formal education, Daniel has obtained several certifications including the MapR Certified Cluster Administrator 5.1 (MCCA) from MapR Technologies in June 2017, the ITIL Foundation Certificate in IT Service Management from PEOPLECERT in November 2013, and the KCS v5 Practices certification from KCS Academy in October 2012.
