Fabien Niel

Fabien Niel has a diverse and extensive work experience. Fabien is currently the CTO & Founder of Quantiq, a position they have held since February 2020. Prior to this, Fabien was a member of the EF PA3 Cohort at Entrepreneur First, where they participated in building startups from scratch and received funding for their ideas.

Before their entrepreneurial endeavors, Fabien worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the CNRS - Centre national de la recherche scientifique from October 2018 to September 2019. Their research focused on laser-plasma interaction under extreme conditions.

Fabien also gained valuable experience at prestigious institutions such as École Polytechnique and the Max-Planck Institute for Nuclear Physics. As a Ph.D. Student at École Polytechnique from October 2015 to October 2018, they conducted theoretical and numerical research to understand the physics behind laser-plasma interaction at the Apollon laser facility. Similarly, during a three-month collaboration with Pr. Antonino Di Piazza at the Max-Planck Institute in 2017, Fabien worked on a research project exploring First-order QED processes with intense Laguerre-Gaussian light beams.

Fabien's work experience also includes a role as a Master Thesis Student at Berkeley Lab, where they studied High Harmonic Generation on plasma mirrors and its application to Free Electron lasers. Additionally, as an Intern Engineer at CEA - Commissariat à l'énergie atomique et aux énergies alternatives in 2014, they studied the dispersion relation of multi-species plasma using Padé approximant and applied this knowledge to the design of a hohlraum in the context of indirect inertial confinement fusion.

Furthermore, Fabien demonstrated their leadership skills as the President of Supsat, where they oversaw the development and realization of a cubesat for testing partial reconfiguration of FPGA. This project aimed to improve the reliability of future commercial satellites in space.
