Ran Tao

Principal Battery Engineer, ASSB Cell Development at QuantumScape

Ran Tao is a Senior Member of Technical Staff at QuantumScape since July 2021, following a postdoctoral position at Berkeley Lab focused on developing advanced electrolytes for lithium metal batteries and leading an ARPA-E project for next-generation lithium metal anode cells. Previous experience includes a graduate researcher role at UCLA Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Science from September 2015 to June 2020, where significant advancements were made in high-performance cathode and anode materials. Ran Tao holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering from UCLA and a BS in Chemistry from Beihang University.
