Kevin M. Long

Partner & Milwaukee Office Managing Partner at Quarles & Brady LLP

As an MBA-trained attorney with a civil engineering background, Kevin Long approaches the practice of law with precision and discipline. He evaluates legal matters through a studied grasp of the client’s business, providing an honest assessment of the litigation options, the potential fees involved, the possible outcomes, and the cost-benefit analyses needed to make responsible decisions.

As a the Milwaukee Office co-Managing Partner, Kevin, along with Katrene Zelenovskiy, has responsibility for Quarles & Brady LLP's connections with our clients and others in the Milwaukee business and broader community.

Kevin’s own litigation practice lies in defense of corporate clients on matters ranging from post-acquisition litigation to warranty and other litigation under the Uniform Commercial Code. A significant amount of Kevin’s practice is within the construction and real estate industries, where he assists clients in matters concerning lien issues, payment disputes, and defect claims. His construction litigation experience includes delay damage claims, defective labor/materials/workmanship cases, bid protests, debarment and suspension claims, payment disputes, and jobsite injury cases. Kevin further has special experience with effect of economic loss doctrine on construction claims and the enforceability of liquidated damage provisions in construction contracts. He is also experienced in condemnation and insurance litigation.

More recently, at the request of clients, Kevin and a group of other Quarles & Brady LLP lawyers have been tracking the fast moving developments in the autonomous vehicle space. Through Q&B's Autonomous Vehicles Task Force, we bring together intellectual property, privacy, products liability and commercial attorneys to efficiently and effectively keep our clients informed on the impact of connected and autonomous vehicles.

The oft-overlooked side of litigation lies in administration and financial stewardship. Given unlimited time and resources, most large firms can usually achieve positive results for their clients. Kevin and his team recognize open-ended budgets and staffing as anachronistic approaches to litigation and therefore have instituted processes and priorities that emphasize efficiency, lean staffing, and cost containment.
