Christian Tàtchev

Academy Director at Queensland Ballet

Christian Tàtchev is an esteemed ballet professional with extensive experience in various roles, currently serving as the Academy Director, Director of Training, Ballet Master, and Principal Artist at Queensland Ballet since October 2008. Previously, Christian was a member of the Culture and Related Industries Industry Reference Committee for the Australian Industry and Skills Committee from August 2017 to October 2022, and served on the Artistic Advisory Committee for the Queensland Dance School of Excellence from January 2013 to January 2015. As a Principal Dancer and Coach at South African Ballet Theatre from June 2002 to October 2008, Christian contributed to staging the company's repertoire. Additional notable positions include Principal Dancer at Cape Town City Ballet and PACT Ballet, and Ballet Artist at the National Opera and Ballet Sofia, Bulgaria. Christian holds a Graduate Diploma in Management and a Graduate Certificate in Management from the Australian Institute of Management, as well as training from the National School of Choreography Sofia, Bulgaria.
