Professor Translational Research Neurodegenerative Disorders at Radboudumc

Marcel Verbeek is a distinguished Professor of Translational Research in Neurodegenerative Disorders at Radboudumc, with a career spanning from 1990 to the present. Holding a Ph.D. and M.Sc., Marcel Verbeek specializes in neurochemistry within the Departments of Neurology and Genetics, focusing on the pathophysiology of Alzheimer's disease, particularly in relation to cerebral amyloid angiopathy, amyloid beta dynamics, and the study of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) biomarkers for Alzheimer's, Cerebral Amyloid Angiopathy, and Parkinson's disease. Serving as chair of the Dutch CSF Reference Laboratory in Nijmegen, Marcel Verbeek leads a national reference lab dedicated to neurochemical diagnostics of CSF. Prior experience includes a postdoctoral position in Alzheimer's research at the Department of Pathology and a research assistant role in vascular biology at TNO Gaubius Institute in Leiden. Marcel Verbeek earned an MSc in Chemical Technology from Delft University of Technology.
