Vidullan Surendran is an experienced applied scientist and roboticist currently employed at RAI Institute since January 2025. Prior to this, Vidullan served as a Senior Robotics Perception Engineer at Apptronik from May 2021 to January 2025, where work focused on vision-conditioned imitation learning approaches for robotics manipulation and 6DoF bi-manual grasp pose estimation using RGB-D point clouds. Vidullan's career also includes a tenure as a Graduate Research Assistant at Penn State University from August 2014 to March 2023, with research concentrated on intent recognition in human-robot systems, cognitive modeling of human behavior, and autonomous vehicles. In addition, Vidullan taught various courses at Penn State University, including software engineering and object-oriented programming in C++, while also providing support for high-performance computing systems. Vidullan holds a PhD in Aerospace, Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering and a Master of Science in the same field from Penn State University.
