Raising a Reader
Rebecca Chrystal has extensive experience in education and program management, currently serving as Managing Director of Programs & Partnerships at Raising A Reader since July 2010. Previous roles include various titles at Raising A Reader, as well as Director of Literacy Services at Reading Is Fundamental, where responsibilities included educational consulting and oversight of literacy services. Earlier experience includes serving as a Special Education Teacher at The Kennedy Krieger Institute and Youth Sports Coordinator at the YMCA. Rebecca Chrystal holds a Master of Science in Special Education from The Johns Hopkins University and multiple Bachelor of Science degrees in Elementary Education from Towson University.

Raising a Reader (RAR) is a national nonprofit that partners with parents and educators to create brighter futures for children by strengthening family bonds. Family engagement is at the core of what we do. Our evidence-based programs help caring adults set their children up for success by creating shared reading routines, fostering social emotional learning, healthy family relationships and learning skills needed to thrive in school and beyond. Through easy-to-use, multilingual materials and diverse stories, we meet families where they are and make shared reading more engaging and accessible for all children.
