JOB SUMMARY
The Quality Engineer is instrumental in securing the highest value components for our assembly lines. This position is pivotal in our manufacturing process by reviewing engineering and manufacturing specifications to assure the best vendors in the industry for the parts we need. Extensive problem solving and interpersonal skills to work with our supply base in assuring that incoming materials meet specifications.
GENERAL EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering science or equivalent professional experience.
• Preferred prior supplier quality engineering experience
• Proficient computer knowledge and ability:
o Microsoft Excel, Word & Outlook
o ERP software
• Excellent communication and liaison skills.
• Advanced knowledge of manufacturing and production processes.
• Advanced knowledge of government compliance and quality control regulatory standards.
SPECIFIC JOB FUNCTIONS
The following are some of the principal job functions; however, duties responsibilities and activities may change at any time with or without notice.
• Contact vendors and liaise between product engineers, manufacturing personnel and suppliers to resolve any Quality or delivery concerns.
• Evaluate Scrap reports and implement corrective actions based on findings.
• Conduct supplier Quality control audits on a regular basis to ensure vendors and their supplies remain in compliance with company and federal manufacturing and production standards.
• Communicate with vendors regularly to foster an environment that facilitates Continuous Improvement.
• Understand and interpret all manufacturing audits, including ISO 9001 and other industry standards.
• Assist in completing First Articles of Inspection to various customer requirements.
• Maintain a supplier list and include performance evaluations and quality control audits in the database for in-house access by company and manufacturing management personnel.
• Assist with logistics, including communications with vendors when there are packaging and receiving issues when materials arrive.
• Additional functions not specifically outlined in this position description as directed by the Manager.
PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
• Lifting up to 25# with no restrictions
• Healthy wrist-arm motion – repetitive motion of arms and shoulders
• Required to change from sitting frequently to standing frequently.
• Vision, with or without correction, must be adequate to perform the required job functions
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Much of the work performed will be in a manufacturing environment. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. PPE is available where required.
