George Mandis is a seasoned software engineering professional with extensive experience in leading and managing engineering teams. Currently, George serves as a Software Engineering Manager at Recidiviz since August 2025. Previously, George held various positions at Axios HQ, including Director of Engineering, Engineering Manager, and Senior Full Stack Engineer from February 2021 to June 2025. From March 2019 to July 2023, George was recognized as a Google Developer Expert, actively presenting on JavaScript and programming at numerous conferences. As the founder and Principal Engineer of SnapTortoise from August 2006 to December 2021, George specialized in software consultancy and product development. Additionally, George has contributed to the educational sector as a mentor, instructor, and workshop leader across various organizations, fostering the growth of early-career software engineers and students. George earned a Bachelor's degree from Portland State University.
