Red Hook Initiative
Kara Smith, LMSW, currently serves as the Red Hook Community Health Network Manager at the Red Hook Initiative since August 2021. Prior experience includes roles as the Policy and Communications Manager for the South Bronx Rising Together initiative at Children's Aid and as the Data and Outcomes Project Manager at KConnect. Kara has extensive experience in social work and research, including a graduate research associate position at the Prevention Research Center for Healthy Neighborhoods, where contributions were made to the FreshLink Project aimed at improving healthy food access. Additional roles include supervised visitation monitor and shelter facilitator at the YWCA West Central Michigan. Educational credentials include a Master of Science in Social Administration from Case Western Reserve University and a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Social Work from Calvin University.
