Changkoo Kang

Changkoo Kang, Ph.D., is an accomplished autonomy engineer at Refraction AI since April 2021. Previously, Kang served as a graduate research assistant at Virginia Tech from August 2015 to October 2020, focusing on the development of a heterogeneous stereo vision system for detecting and characterizing target aircraft. During a graduate internship at Intel Labs in the summer of 2019, Kang devised and tested a deep learning architecture for object classification and orientation estimation using radar data. Kang holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Aerospace, Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from Virginia Tech (2017-2020), a Master of Science in the same field from Virginia Tech (2015-2017), and a Bachelor of Science in Safety Engineering from Incheon National University (2008-2014).
