James Folmer

James Folmer has extensive work experience in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry. James is currently serving as the Senior Director of CMC and Program Operations at REGENXBIO Inc. Prior to their current role, they worked at REGENXBIO as the Director of Program Management.

Before joining REGENXBIO, James worked at MedImmune as the Associate Director of Biologics Pipeline Management and as a Senior Project Manager in Corporate Project Management. James also has experience at AstraZeneca R&D, where they held positions such as Principal Scientist on the CNS&Pain Strategy Team and Associate Director of CNS Medicinal Chemistry. James began their career at AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals as a Project Leader in CNS Discovery. James has expertise in leading cross-functional teams, operational management, and scientific research and development.

James Folmer has a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from PennWest Clarion, which they completed from 1984 to 1988. James then pursued a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry at Penn State University from 1988 to 1994. Following that, they furthered their education with a Post-Doc in Organic Chemistry at the University of California, Berkeley from 1994 to 1997.
