James Harris is an accomplished engineering professional with extensive experience in propulsion and motion control systems. Currently serving as Vice President of Propulsion Engineering at Relativity Space since September 2018, James has held multiple roles including Senior Director of Propulsion and Chief Engineer for the Terran 1 project, focusing on subsystem integration and vehicle life cycle management. Prior to Relativity Space, James worked at Waymo as Motion Control Systems Engineering Lead, where responsibilities included the development and verification of motion control systems for autonomous vehicles. Earlier experiences at Blue Origin involved leadership in launch operations and integrated test operations, alongside engineering roles in controls at GE Aviation and internships at Draper Laboratory and Boston Engineering. James holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Tufts University.
