John Wen

John Wen has an extensive academic and professional background in electrical engineering, currently serving as the Head of the Department of Electrical, Computer, and Systems Engineering and Professor at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute since 1988. In addition to leading the ECSE department, John Wen has held the position of Head of the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering and directed the Center for Automation Technologies and Systems, also acting as Interim Director of the Smart Lighting Engineering Research Center. Prior experience includes a role as a Member of Technical Staff at Jet Propulsion Laboratory from 1985 to 1988 and as a Systems Engineer at Fisher Controls in 1981-1982. John Wen earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Electrical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and has advanced degrees from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and McGill University, alongside a high school diploma from Singapore American School.
