Tom van Daal

Tom van Daal is a Senior Data Scientist at ResMed, where responsibilities include developing cloud-based machine learning systems to improve sleep and breathing outcomes, with notable contributions resulting in two patented ML systems for sleep apnea masks. Previously, as a Data Scientist at Sobolt, Tom designed an automated Python pipeline for insulation advice, significantly enhancing efficiency. Experience also includes research roles at the National Institute for Subatomic Physics (Nikhef), where Tom published nine scientific papers during a doctoral candidacy, and as a Research Intern at CERN, where data analyses for dark matter research were conducted. Tom holds a PhD in Theoretical Subatomic Physics from the University of Groningen and has a diverse educational background in physics from Radboud University and New Mexico State University.
